About Rachel


Rachel Zenzinger (D-Arvada) was elected to the Jefferson County Board of Commissioners (District 1) in 2024. Previously she served as Colorado State Senator 2016-24, and as a member of the Arvada City Council 2009-13. Rachel is an educator with an extensive background in school finance. She resides in Arvada with her husband and two college-aged children.

Teacher

Rachel attended Regis University and received a Bachelor’s degree in Education and a Master’s degree in Adult Learning. She is a licensed secondary-level social studies teacher. She also worked in the Master’s of Arts in Education program at Regis University.

Mom

From a family with five brothers and three sisters, Rachel has two college-aged children. One attends the University of Northern Colorado and the other attends Colorado State University. They are her highest priority. They inspire her to work every day to make our community and state the best possible place to raise a family.

Leader

Prior to serving on the Jefferson County Board of Commissioners, she served two terms in the State Legislature, and was twice elected to the Arvada City Council. She also served as a board member to several organizations such as the Arvada Center, Ralston House, and Denver Regional Council of Governments.
